My diet is very restricted. Do you have anything for me?
We understand that it can be challenging to order food when on a restricted diet, that is why we make it easy to customize your meals when ordering online. If there is an ingredient that you cannot have, simply let us know and we will take it out for you. We also have an “a la carte” menu that can be used to build your own meal.
What areas do you deliver to?
San Luis Obispo, 5 Cites, Los Osos, Morro Bay, Cayucos, Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, Santa Margarita. If you have any questions about your location and whether or not if we can deliver there, please contact us.
How do you transport the food safely?
We will deliver your food in a recycled paper bag. We transport your food in an insulated container with ice packs to keep your food at the recommended temperature.
Are your meals certified gluten-free?
Even though we will never have gluten in our meals, we cannot be certified gluten-free because the kitchen we use is a shared space for other food businesses; we do not have control of what other tenants are preparing. The kitchen is cleaned between food makers, so the chances of cross-contamination are low, but we still like to err on the side of caution.
Where is the food made?
We prepare all the food at Mr. C’s Kitchen Rental, a commercial kitchen space in Atascadero. We are certified by ServSafe, and we follow all health code requirements to ensure your food is handled with caution, care, and love.
Are you 100 % organic?
We source organic as much as possible, but we also believe in buying seasonal produce from local farmers. Some produce from local farmers may not be “certified organic,” but they use organic practices. Since the official organic certification is costly and can take years to receive, we like to communicate with our local farmers and get to know them and their practices. A lot of the time, they sell produce that isn’t certified organic but is pesticide-free. With that said, we do commit to sourcing all items on the EWG’s Dirty Dozen list organically. How long are the meals good for?
The meals are good for 4-5 days of receiving them. We will have the dates listed on the label of each meal. They will be the freshest and most delicious during this time. Also, we suggest consuming any seafood meals and salads first for maximum enjoyment and nutritional benefit. If freezing, the meals will last 2- 3 months.
Can I pick up my order?
We intended to have the option to either pick your food up at a convenient location or have it delivered, but finding a pickup location has been challenging with COVID-19 still being of concern. We plan to have pickup locations in the future, once more places open back up and allow more foot traffic. For now, we will be offering no contact delivery for a small fee.
How much does delivery cost?
How will I know my meals are delivered?
We will send you an email with a 1-2 hour time slot every Monday (one week after the menu is posted). That same Wednesday, we will call/text you a few minutes before arriving at your location. Once we have arrived, we will knock or ring the doorbell.
Do I have to be present for delivery?
As long as someone is present at the address listed upon delivery we can drop off your food. But if no one is present at the time of delivery, we will not be able to leave the food.
Where can I receive my delivery?
Any valid address, which includes: home, work, gated community, and hotel.
Can the meals be frozen?
Some of the dishes may be frozen. We will have a note next to an item saying “freezer friendly” to let you know what can be frozen. Be conscious of the best by dates when freezing and transfer to a freezer-safe container when possible.
How do I cutomize my meals?
We post a weekly menu that focuses on nutrient-dense meals. If any of the meals you want have an ingredient in it that you cannot have, you click on that menu item, and there will be a place for you to write a special request. You write what you can’t have in the dish, for example, “no onions” and we will make your dish without it. You can also customize your meal with our “a la carte” menu.
What does it mean to be a certified Natural Chef?
A natural chef is trained in the professional execution of nutrition-based and restorative cooking and has unique knowledge and training in using alternative ingredients to support people coping with illness or who want to optimize their health.
What precautions are you taking with Covid-19?
We are taking COVID-19 and all the rules and regulations set by the public health department very seriously. My fiancé and I will be the only two prepping, preparing, and cooking your meals. We will both be wearing masks and gloves during all our tasks, and we will always practice proper sanitation. We are also doing no contact delivery where we will drop your food off at your location, call you, and wait at a distance to see that you retrieved your food.
What type of packaging do you use for the meals?
All of the packaging that we use to present our meals are 100% compostable including the lids. The trays are made up of an agriculture byproduct from wheat straw, and the lids are made of a corn derived biodegradable plastic. Simply toss your used packaging into the green waste bin! The packages are made with gluten-free materials.
Is there a minimum purchase price?
Yes. The minumum purchase price will be $40.00 dollars per transaction.
Are the food containers oven and microwave safe?
The base trays are both oven and microwave safe up to 375 degrees F. The lids are not microwave safe or oven safe, so if you choose to heat your food directly in the packaging make sure to remove the lid!
